Staying safe in hot weather months

At Amazon Flex, your safety and well-being are always our top priority. As temperatures rise, we are sharing helpful reminders of safety features and recommendations to help you stay safe, comfortable, and confident whilst delivering in hot weather.
Stay aware of weather conditions
Summer temperatures can rise quickly, which is why it is important to stay aware of any temperature variations. At Amazon, our team of meteorologists examine forecasts and real-time weather to provide you with in-app notifications and alerts during extremely high temperatures, so you can stay informed and prepared. If weather conditions change significantly, you will receive updates directly in the app, including potential route adjustments or cancellations to help keep you safe.
Hydrate and use sun protection
Choose lightweight, breathable clothing to stay cool in hot temperatures, and remember sun protection such as hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Hydration is also key, so fill up your water bottle before you hit the road and ask a station associate for assistance if you need a refill at delivery stations. We have also made bottles of water available for free during the warmer months at Amazon Logistics and Sub Same Day delivery stations. Ask a station associate if you are unable to locate the water bottles at your station.
Prioritise your well-being in the heat
When delivering in high temperatures, it is important to stay aware of how you are feeling. Watch out for signs of heat-related illness, such as dizziness, nausea, or extreme fatigue. If you experience any of these symptoms, take a break. With Amazon Flex, you have the flexibility to take breaks or make stops as needed during your delivery window.
As you deliver this summer, stay mindful of the weather and listen to your body. Our Driver Support team is available through the Amazon Flex app to assist you at any time.
